The big picture is:

We are in search of a Director of Human Resources who will be responsible to lead and coordinate HR policies and programs with emphasis on recruiting, benefits and compensation, policy development, and ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Looking for an individual that has led an HR department in a startup on a growth trajectory and/or biotech environment where teamwork, flexibility, and organizational skills are required. A successful candidate should be comfortable working closely with and advising senior leaders and recruiting individuals with advanced degrees in science.

The successful candidate will be responsible for activities such as:

  • Responsible for daily administration of HR services, including recruitment and selection, on-boarding, off-boarding, promotions, transfers, job classification, training, and employee relations
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, coordinating interviews, and onboarding. Experience hiring directly, through recruiting agencies and contract recruiters. Ability to review and negotiate contracts and offers
  • With the support of an insurance broker, administer benefits programs including annual renewals and plan testing. Understand and be able to communicate to employee’s various employee benefits programs including group medical/vision, dental, life and 401K
  • Oversees performance management and merit increase and incentive compensation programs. Have an understanding of stock options and compensation levels in research and development roles
  • Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
  • Set-up ADP’s on-boarding module for easy and efficient new hire processing
  • Present new hire training and orientation in person or via Microsoft teams. Suggest improvements and changes to new hire training and onboarding documents
  • Support Accounting with HR/payroll activities
  • In conjunction with Executive Management, investigate employee issues and conflicts and support a resolution
  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations and compliance with employee handbook

We are looking for candidates with this background and education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 15 HR experience including 5 years in a senior human resources generalist role
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with a diverse team in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll software preferred
  • Experience in biotechnology industry preferred
  • Possesses planning and organizational skills
  • Able to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and independently
